Today was a particularly special day at Mental Health Matters Wales, as we welcomed some truly remarkable guests to our Dementia Hub. Elisabeth May, accompanied by Debbie and Sam from Care UK, visited us to deliver a heartwarming gift—a cheque for £1,000. This isn't just any donation; it comes with a beautiful story of dedication, community, and doubling the impact through matching efforts.
A Heartfelt Effort Doubled
Last year, inspired to make a difference, Debbie and Sam chose our charity for a unique challenge—the 4 Waterfalls Walk. Their determination and spirit saw them raise £1,000 through a Just Giving page dedicated to our cause. But they didn't stop there; they approached Care UK with a hopeful request to match the amount raised. Generously, Care UK agreed, effectively doubling the support for our Dementia Hub.
This wonderful gift was officially handed over today, symbolized by a "big charity cheque," making the occasion not just a celebration of the donation but also of the collective spirit of those who strive to support our community.
Acknowledging Our Heroes
Special thanks must go to Michelle Williams and Maria Stokes, our Dementia Hub coordinators, whose tireless efforts ensure our projects not only succeed but flourish. Their dedication is the backbone of our initiatives, transforming generous donations like today's into real, impactful actions.
During the visit, we took the opportunity to show Liz, Sam, and Debbie around our facilities. Their enthusiasm was palpable, and it was clear that this partnership was built on shared values and a mutual commitment to supporting mental health and dementia care.

We're buzzing with excitement for our next steps, as we plan a visit to Care UK's Cardiff office. This upcoming meeting is more than just a follow-up; it's a chance to deepen our collaboration and explore new ways to support each other and our community.
