We’re delighted to share that Mental Health Matters Wales has officially been awarded the Cyber Essentials certification – a significant step forward in strengthening our digital security and safeguarding the information of everyone we support.

This accreditation demonstrates our organisation’s commitment to maintaining robust cyber security practices and ensures we have the right systems in place to defend against the vast majority of common cyber threats. From secure firewalls and user access controls to malware protection and patch management, the Cyber Essentials standard ensures our digital practices are both safe and effective.
A huge thank you to all our team members who supported this process by providing the necessary information, completing security updates, and ensuring our internal systems are aligned with best practice. Your cooperation and attention to detail made this possible.
Achieving this award is not just a badge – it’s a reassurance to our service users, partners, and funders that we take digital safety seriously. Whether we're handling sensitive advocacy case notes, corresponding with local authorities, or managing staff and volunteer data, we are committed to protecting the integrity and confidentiality of our systems.
What’s next? Cyber Essentials Plus!
Now that we’ve laid a strong foundation, we’re already preparing for the next step: Cyber Essentials Plus. This is a more advanced, independently assessed accreditation that involves a hands-on technical audit. It will further demonstrate that our cyber defences aren’t just in place – but working effectively in practice.
This journey reinforces our wider commitment to quality, transparency, and safeguarding – not just in the services we deliver, but in how we operate behind the scenes.
We’ll keep you posted as we take the next steps toward achieving Cyber Essentials Plus. In the meantime, thank you again to everyone who played a role in securing this success.

Striving for excellence in service and security.
