Embracing Connection and Community: Bridgend Dementia Hub Activities for October 2024

As the leaves begin to turn and the air grows crisp, October brings a sense of change and new opportunities to connect. For individuals living with dementia and their caregivers, the Bridgend Dementia Hub is a beacon of support, offering a variety of engaging activities designed for the community, creating creativity, and well-being.

This month is packed with events that promote connection, understanding, and joy.

Weekly Activities to Look Forward To

Every Monday, the Bridgend Dementia Hub opens its doors for a Coffee Morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 63 Nolton Street. This informal gathering is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and their caregivers to come together, share experiences, and enjoy a comforting cup of coffee in a friendly environment.

On Tuesdays, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the hub offers Peer Support, Information, and Activities at the MHMW Union Offices. This session provides vital resources and the chance to engage with others who understand the journey of dementia.

Wednesdays are a time for creativity with the Art Session from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This activity not only allows participants to explore their artistic sides but also promotes cognitive engagement and emotional expression.

Fridays are dedicated to the Sarn Hub Drop-in Support & Activities from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, offering a consistent space for individuals to seek support and participate in various activities tailored to their needs.

Special Events and Activities

October is also filled with special events that enhance the experience at the hub. The Maesteg Hub will host gatherings on the 1st, 15th, and 29th, providing a welcoming environment for individuals in the Maesteg area.

One of the highlights of the month is the World Mental Health Day Event on October 11th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Union Offices. This event aims to raise awareness about mental health and provides an opportunity for participants to engage in discussions and activities that promote mental well-being.

Get ready for a delightful treat at the Morning Halloween Tea Party on October 28th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This festive gathering is a chance to enjoy seasonal treats, connect with others, and celebrate the joy of community.

Outdoor Activities

For those who enjoy the beauty of nature, the Wellbeing Walks scheduled for the 4th, 11th, and 18th of October from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM will take place at Newbridge Fields. These walks offer a refreshing way to engage with the outdoors while promoting physical activity and social interaction. Please remember to check in with the hub beforehand in case of poor weather.

Additionally, the Porthcawl Wellbeing Walk on October 25th provides another opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and scenic views, meeting opposite the Pavilion.

Connecting with Community

Other hubs, such as Llys Ton, Pencoed, and Blaengarw, also have scheduled events throughout the month, ensuring that everyone has access to support and activities close to home. Whether it’s music, art, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee with friends, the Bridgend Dementia Hub offers a sense of belonging and understanding.
