Supporting the Community with Our Dementia Hub at Pencoed Library

mhmadmin

At MHM Wales, we are proud to offer essential support to individuals in the community experiencing early onset dementia through our dedicated Dementia Hub. This week’s session, held at Pencoed Library, was a heartwarming reminder of the power of memory and community connection.

As part of the session, we brought out a selection of books showcasing the rich history of Pencoed. To our surprise and delight, some of the participants found photographs of their parents and relatives in the pages, sparking wonderful moments of reminiscence. With cups of tea, biscuits, and warm conversation, we spent a few hours sharing stories, laughter, and cherished memories.

Our Dementia Hub is designed to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals and their carers. Through activities like this, we encourage cognitive stimulation, emotional support, and the opportunity to maintain strong social connections. Reminiscing about the past not only sparks joy but also plays a vital role in maintaining mental and emotional well-being for those with early onset dementia.

At MHM Wales, we recognise the importance of community. Our Dementia Hub sessions offer more than just activities—they provide a meaningful opportunity for participants to connect with others, share memories, and feel supported in their journey.

If you or a loved one could benefit from attending our Dementia Hub, or if you’d like to learn more about our services, visit us at www.mhmwales.org.uk. Together, we can ensure that no one has to face dementia alone.
