As we step into a new week at MHM Wales, we’re excited to reflect on the incredible events and activities that have brought our community together. Our commitment to supporting mental health and building connections continues to inspire our volunteers, staff, and participants.
Here’s a look at some of the highlights from this week:
Gardening at Ty Llidiard
This week, our dedicated volunteers gathered at Ty Llidiard for a rewarding gardening session. The therapeutic benefits of gardening are well-documented, and our volunteers worked hard to cultivate the garden, enhancing the environment for everyone involved.
Not only did the activity promote physical wellbeing, but it also provided a wonderful opportunity for social interaction and community bonding.
Gardening allows us to connect with nature and each other, reminding us of the importance of nurturing both our plants and our relationships.
Supporting Dementia Patients at Lakeside and St David’s
In our ongoing efforts to support those living with dementia, we held a fun-filled session at Lakeside and St David’s, in Cardiff where participants engaged in a game of Hungry Hippos!
This playful approach not only brought joy and laughter but also stimulated cognitive engagement and social interaction among the patients.
Activities like this are crucial for creating meaningful connections and enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
Halloween Celebrations
As Halloween approached, we embraced the festive spirit with a series of spooky activities! Our community came together to celebrate with fun costumes, games, and treats. These gatherings are not just about having fun; they also play an essential role in promoting mental health by encouraging a sense of belonging and community spirit.
Meeting Our Funders
This week, we had the opportunity to meet with our generous funders through an event hosted by BAVO. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to them for their unwavering support, which enables us to continue our vital work in mental health advocacy and community wellbeing. Building these relationships is crucial, as they allow us to share our progress, discuss future initiatives, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Wellbeing Walks in Porthcawl
We are also excited to announce our ongoing Wellbeing Walks in Porthcawl, specifically designed for individuals living with dementia. These walks not only provide physical exercise but also serve as a supportive space for participants to connect with nature and each other.
As we stroll along the beautiful Porthcawl coastline, we encourage conversations, share experiences, and build a sense of community.
Pets as Therapy
This week, we were thrilled to host a visit from Pets as Therapy, bringing furry friends to brighten our day!
The presence of therapy animals has been shown to reduce anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve overall wellbeing.
Our participants had a fantastic time interacting with the pets, showcasing the profound impact animals can have on mental health.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on this week’s activities, we are reminded of the importance of community, connection, and support in enhancing mental health.
We encourage everyone to stay engaged and participate in our upcoming events.
Together, we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those around us.
