We are pleased to share an update from MHM Wales. As part of her art therapy placement with us, Sinéad, a student from Cardiff Metropolitan University, organised a special one-day exhibition at our Quarella Road premises, showcasing artwork created by people who attend our groups.
During her placement, Sinéad worked closely with our beneficiaries, supporting them to explore different ways of expressing themselves through art. The result was a collection of paintings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces, each reflecting personal experiences, emotions, and individual styles.
The exhibition, held for one day only on Friday, was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the creativity, hard work, and achievements of everyone involved.
John, Community Services Co-ordinator at MHM Wales, said:
"This exhibition showed the genuine talent of the people we support. It was great to see everyone get involved, try new things, and produce work they were proud of."
Art offered many of our beneficiaries an alternative way to share thoughts and feelings that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. It also provided a chance to build confidence and focus on new skills.
Maria Stokes, Dementia Hub Co-ordinator, commented:
"It was fantastic to see how much the groups enjoyed taking part. The artwork sparked plenty of conversations and brought a lot of energy to the sessions."
Michelle Williams, also a Dementia Hub Co-ordinator, added:
"There was real pride in seeing their work displayed. It gave people a sense of achievement and was a real boost for everyone involved."
We would like to thank Sinéad for her contribution during her placement and for bringing this project together, and Cardiff Metropolitan University for their ongoing partnership.
The exhibition was a brilliant reminder of the value of creativity, confidence-building, and community at MHM Wales.
