Reflecting on a Day of Well-being, Creativity, and Connection at MHM Wales

Updated: Oct 15

Today, MHM Wales hosted a special event at our offices on Quarella Road, Bridgend, to celebrate World Mental Health Day. From 10 AM to 2 PM, our doors were open for a range of activities designed to help our community relax, connect, and reflect on this year's theme: work-life balance. It was a day filled with laughter, creativity, and moments of mindfulness, all aimed at promoting mental well-being.

Creative Arts and Crafts

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in a relaxing arts and crafts session, allowing their creativity to flow. Whether painting, drawing, or making something with their hands, the experience offered a therapeutic break from daily routines.

Creative activities like these are proven to reduce stress and improve focus, providing much-needed relief for busy minds.

Mindfulness with Qigong and Tai Chi

The morning kicked off with a peaceful Qigong and Tai Chi session. Participants took part in gentle, mindful movements that promoted calmness, balance, and stress relief. These practices are well known for their benefits in helping people manage work and personal life more effectively, and today’s session gave everyone a chance to start the day with a sense of clarity and inner peace.

Energising Drumming Session

One of the most exciting parts of the day was the drumming session. This energising activity brought participants together, creating a shared rhythm, connection and fun. Beyond its entertainment value, drumming has numerous mental health benefits—it helps reduce stress, lift mood, and bring people closer through collaborative creativity.

Choir Singing to End the Day on a High Note

As the day drew to a close, we ended with an uplifting choir session. Singing together has been shown to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and create a sense of community, and today was no exception. Whether people sang along or simply enjoyed the music, the session was a joyful way to end the event and send everyone home with a smile.

The Importance of Work-Life Balance

At the heart of today’s celebration was the theme of work-life balance. All of the activities—whether mindful movement, creative expression, or group connection—were designed to remind participants of the importance of taking time for themselves. A healthy balance between work and personal life is essential for maintaining good mental health. Striking this balance reduces stress, prevents burnout, and improves overall well-being.

A Day of Connection

Today wasn’t just about relaxation—it was also about building connections. Whether chatting over tea and coffee, crafting together, or joining the choir, everyone who attended had the chance to connect with others and share in the day’s positive energy. Social connection is a key element of mental health, and we were thrilled to see so many people come together to support each other.
